Avery UPDATES

Most of Avery's updates and entries are written by her mother, Marissa.

Sorry August 07, 2006
A lot of people have emailed me or called and asked for updates on Avery's website.  I'm so sorry but the month of July was incredibly busy for us.  I have wrote many updates from June to present.  Thanks for your concern.
Transplant Update August 06, 2006

I'm sad to announce that I am unable to donate one of my kidneys to Avery.  One of the nephrologists says that I have too much calcium in both kidneys and could potentially harm Avery or myself in the future.  Right now it is very minor but they do not want to take any chances.

Raul will start getting his work up next week.  Please pray that he will pass the tests.

Good news is that Avery's Nephrologists, Dr. Azam, said as soon as they find a donor for Avery (hopefully it's her Daddy) they will schedule the transplant for sometime in September.  She said Avery is ready for her new kidney.

Hospital Stay August 05, 2006

Avery has been doing great and is back to normal.  We've been taking her to Galveston every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for dialysis.

Avery was admitted into the hospital on Friday evening.  After her normal dialysis treatment, she was running a high fever.  They wanted to take extra precautions because they think she may have an infection in her blood.  She is home tonight and we are waiting for the blood tests to get back, they normally take 48 hours.

July 11, 2006 - Golf Tournament August 05, 2006

Thanks to Stephanie and Tim, the 98 players who participated in the Golf Tournament, Corporate Hole Sponsers, Buffalo Wild Wings for providing free wings, Southwyke Golf Course and all of the local golf courses and stores who generously donated door prizes.

Tim & Stephanie Luna did a very nice job organzing this event for Avery.

They raised over $10,000!!

July 10, 2006 - Reason August 05, 2006

Babies and small children are not suppose to be on Hemodialysis because their veins are so tiny that the catheter can easily slip out of place.  Well this is what has happen to Avery again and again and again.  Another surgeon went in and put the catheter in a new area.  So we are praying this will work.
