Most of Avery's updates and entries are written by her mother, Marissa.
So SorryOctober 04, 2007
As most of you know Avery was admitted into the hospital on Monday. Her blood levels were showing that her body was toxicated with her medicine and her kidney function was decreasing. The doctors were very worried.
Sorry but Avery is crying now so I will update later. Be back soon.
1st Better Day!!!!!September 09, 2007
It's 11:30 pm and Avery has had a good day. No vomit and very little diarrhea. She ate a whole cup of chick noodle soup and has snacked on a few things through out the day. She still doesn't look "normal", I've kept a bucket near us all day. I felt like at any minute she'd get sick but to my surprise and thankfulness she didn't.
God is answering our prayers... keep it up. xoxo
Avery is homeSeptember 08, 2007
We got home Friday night. There really isn't much to update because she is still sick so there is nothing to be happy about. Yes, I am happy she's home but we think she will need to go back to the hospital. She is not eating at all and what she's drinking doesn't stay down.
I'll keep you posted. God Bless!
Day 5September 07, 2007
So far so good. Avery is looking good and in a better mood. She had her blood painfully drawn a few minutes ago. She is so bruised from the constant needle pokes that it's painful now. The doctors came in and said depending on the blood tests that Avery may get to leave. If her creatine level has gone down any then she will get to go home.
Well it's 9:00 pm and Avery is still in the hospital.
To Avery's surprise, Raul brought Alexa to visit her. She was so happy to see both of them. Alexa was happy to see us.
We knew from this morning we'd be staying another night. Her blood test weren't good this morning. It showed her BUN and Creatine levels were elevated again. Those are the two levels they check for kidney function. They said those do get elevated when a person is dehydrated. They think she is still dehydrated from her vomit episode yesterday and she's still having constant diarrhea.
We are getting very frustrated with all of this. We are worried for Avery and want her taken care of and well again and WANT ANSWERS. For a child or anyone to go 14 days with vomiting and diarrhea is just not normal to us. First they thought it was a Viral infection, then thought it was a side effect of a new medicine she just got on, then they said she has a UTI, then the diarrhea was a side effect of the antibiotic, then her blood work showed she may have possible bone disease or gall bladder issues or liver problems, omg.... then this then that then this then that. I can go on and on but I'll stop. So as of RIGHT NOW... she still has a viral infection and UTI (which I know we aren't doctors but we think it's more).
The only positive thing is Raul and I demanded that Avery have an Ultrasound. Because ultimately her kidney is what is most important to us. We don't want to chance anything being wrong or her having a rejection. They checked all 3 kidneys, her liver, gall bladder, pancreas and bowels. Everything checked out fine and her kidney was really good! They did see issues with her bowel which just means she has diarrhea (duh!)
Other than that.... it was an ok day. We had fun with Lexi. We played and walked and painted and colored and talked and painted more, etc. We miss Raul and Lexi but hopefully Avery will be ok.
